Geography

Baza Region is a spanish region situaded in the northeast part of Granada province, in Andalucia. This territory borders with the region of Huéscar, Los Vélez, Almanzora Valley, Los FIlabres-Tabernas, Cazorla and with Guadix.
Baza Region is made up of eight municipalities: Baza (which is the capital), Benamaurel, Caniles, Cortes de Baza, Cuevas del Campo, Cúllar, Freila and Zújar. The total population of all the region is 42423 inhabitants, with a surface of 1731,49 km2.

Baza Climate

The climate is mediterranean with a little bit of continental, with an average temperature of 13,9ºC, but with a lot of difference between the day and the night. The winter is cold and dry, with an average of 6ºC, and the summer is hot and also dry, with an average of 25ºC, although temperatures can change a lot.

Economy

The economy of the capital of the region, Baza, is based in the services sector, with 1498 establishments, with a lot of clothes shops, pubs and bars. On Wednesdays, the market is celebrated, which is one of the main of the province of Granada.
Another very important thing for economy is the agriculture. The main crops are barley and almond trees.

Here you can see the locations of every town in the Baza Region. Although I have talked only about the most important ones, maybe you want to visit some of the ones I haven't mentioned, so I have put all of them.


Cúllar

It's a town which has a surface of 427,66 km² and a population of 461, with a density of 10,52 inhabitants/km². Some important celebrations are:

  • San Juan, in Las vertientes, 24th of June
  • Día de la Cruz, 3rd of May
  • Moros y Cristianos celebrations, in honor of La Santísima Virgen de la Cabeza, the last weekend of April.
  • San Blas celebration, in El margen, 3rd of February.
